A Novel Algorithm for Fast DC Electric Arc Detection

Electric arcing is a common problem in DC power systems. To overcome this problem, the electric arc detection algorithm has been developed as faster alternative to existing algorithms. The following issues are addressed paper: calculation of proposed incremental decomposition signal over time; computational complexity Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) and decomposition; test bench used measure arcs at given parameters; analysis measurements using FFT; decomposition. parameters voltage, load, width gap between electrodes. results showed that allows for calculation—about seven times than FFT—and cheaper implementation devices FFT.
